HOT GOALTENDER ENDS ZOGS STREAK

PORTLAND, ME - For the first time this season, the ZOGS were held scoreless, losing to Freightliner 2-0 Tuesday night. Despite dominating the play for much of the first two periods, the ZOGS found themselves down a goal with 1:00 left in the first, as a deflected pass was swatted at twice and barely tipped in off the far post. After a scoreless second period, Freightliner scored their second goal at 12:24 of the third with a shot from the point that beat ZOGS goaltender Tim Dominick along the ice far side. The potent ZOGS offense managed their best flurry in the final minute of the game with their goalie pulled. However, the Freightliner goaltender made five incredible saves to preserve the shutout, including snaring a shot that was bound for the back of the net with his glove as he slid to his right. After the game, ZOGS captain Rob Carrier was quoted as saying, "Both teams had their chances tonight. The puck just didn't bounce our way." One positive note the ZOGS came away with was that they found they could be competitive with the three-time defending champs. Each team certainly had multiple scoring opportunities to take control of the game, but both goaltenders were on the top of their game. The difference Tuesday night was that Freightliner made every opportunity count. The ZOGS next game is Wednesday, November 29th at 9:30 PM against perennial league runner-up Play It Again.
