ZOGS WINNING, BUT WINNING UGLY

PORTLAND, ME - Through the first four games of the season, the ZOGS have compiled a 3-1 record averaging five goals scored per game.  Unfortunately, in the process they have given up 14 goals combined to two teams that finished at the bottom of the league last year and to two who transferred from the "Gentlemen's" league.  This trend does not bode well for the ZOGS as they prepare to face the four teams that finished with a better record than them last year over the next six games.  Defenseman Bill Reynolds was quoted as saying, "Defensively, we are not playing well right now.  From forechecking to our goaltending, we have to improve across the board if we hope to compete with the elite teams."  The good news for the ZOGS is that they seem to play their best hockey when faced with a challenge.

TRANSACTIONS:  Forward Dave Venditti was released.  To replace him on the roster, forward Kevin Coyne was given a 10-game contract.

NEWS OF NOTE:  The ZOGS have compiled more wins to this point in the season than the previous two years combined . . . Our next game is Wednesday night, Oct. 25th at 10:40 PM.  Come meet the ZOGS front office at Old Chicago for Pint Glass Night prior to the game.
